Our CSA is vital to our survival as a farm and job training program. As we strive to improve our CSA experience, this year we are offering a different, more flexible model than in previous years. We will offer CSA pickups at two locations, the Silver Spring Farmers Market (Sat. 9-1) and at our farm – a few miles from downtown Olney, at 19715 Zion Rd. Brookeville, MD (Tues. 4-9pm). Both options cost $600 (or $570 for returning members who apply by Feb. 1) for 20 weeks of produce, or $300 for a half share ($285 for returning members until Feb. 1). Option 1: Silver Spring market pickup, Sat. 9-1, Ellsworth Dr. between Fenton St. and Georgia Ave.
**The Silver Spring Pickup is now full for 2012** Full share members can choose 9 items per week. Half share members can choose 4.5 items (half share) from our market stand. The size of each item is preset, for example, one bunch of beets, a ¼ lb of lettuce, 1 lb. of heirloom tomatoes, or 2 lbs potatoes. Each week, we will email our members a list of available items. Full share members will get priority over half share members for items we don't have much of. Silver Spring Market members will have the flexibility to choose which weeks they want to pick up their shares, and may pick up their shares any 20 weeks from mid-May to November.
Option 2: Farm pickup, Tues. 4-9pm, 19715 Zion Rd. Brookeville, MD
Full share members will have a choice of 8-10 items from a selection of produce. Full share members get priority over half share members for items we don't have much of. Each week, we will email our members a list of available items. Half share members choose 4-5 items. Farm pickup shares will run 20 weeks from late May to early October.
Free you-pick
All members are welcome to visit the farm and pick their own produce for home use from our ongoing you-pick list. The you-pick list will likely include herbs and items that we have in seasonal abundance, like cherry tomatoes or green beans. Members will not be charged for you-pick items; they are included as part of the membership. Our you-pick list will be included in an email that members will receive each week.
Members are not required to volunteer on the farm, but volunteers are welcome!
